BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- As the first newly built competition venue for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the Shougang ski jumping platform has been officially put into use recently.
On December 12, it will host the first event - 2019 Air+Style, which is estimated to attract 160 athletes from 26 countries and regions to participate in the qualification and more than 6000 spectators.
During the daily competition from December 12 to 14, the Shougang ski jumping platform will hold three light shows to create a beautiful visual effect at night.
At 7:40 p.m. on the 13th, Shougang park will also be open to public tourists. Those who sign up in advance can come to the park to enjoy the light show.
With three cooling towers of the Shougang Winter Olympic square and Beijing Winter Olympic ski jumping platform as the main carrier, the top-level light and shadow spectacle is created by high-tech multimedia means.
The light and shadow show will be divided into three acts: ice and snow flying in the sky, steel fire for a hundred years and Olympic spirit, which will be very colorful and beautiful.
"The picture design of the small cooling tower in the southeast corner is a mural named 'sanhuatian' from the south wall of the main room of the 320th grottoes of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang," an official from Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., LTD said.
The total time of the light show is eight minutes. Special effects technology is used to make the picture. The dynamic picture of the ice and snow Olympics and the Silk Road flying scene will be projected on the southeast cooling tower and the North cooling tower group.
With splendid lighting, the Shougang ski jumping platform is like "crystal shoe". It consists of three parts: the track, the referee's desk, and the stand area. The track is 164 meters long, 34 meters wide at the widest and 60 meters high at the highest point.
The athletes will start from the slip area at the highest part of the "heel", launch at the take-off area of 48 meters high, and then to the landing area and the final terminal area to complete technical actions such as somersault and rotation in the air. In the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, there will be four gold medals here.
As one of the important legacies of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, the ski jump platform can realize rapid "transformation" after the competition. By changing the variable profile on the track, the ski jump platform can be converted into the free-form ski aerial skill track, and the athletes can complete the training and competition of different jumping events in the same venue.
As the world's first ski jump venue that is permanently reserved and used, according to the current assumption, the general public can also use the ski jump in the future, with the potential for other uses.
