TOKYO, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday on Wall Street's overnight lead, with investors relieved that the outcome of a Japan-U.S. summit held in Florida met with market expectations.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 32.98 points, or 0.15 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 22,191.18, marking its highest closing level since Feb. 27.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 0.51 points, or 0.03 percent, to end at 1,750.18.
Nonferrous metal, iron and steel, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
