BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ruling party leaders of Vietnam, Laos, Cuba and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Wednesday congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on being re-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, said that on behalf of the CPV Central committee, he would like to extend Xi his warmest congratulations.
In his message, Trong also sent his congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress, and lauded the development and innovation of the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
Trong expressed his belief that, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, "the party and Chinese people will definitely fulfill the tasks set by the congress and soon achieve the goal of realizing socialist modernization, so as to build China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful."
He also spoke highly of Xi's positive sentiments and friendly attitude towards Vietnam, as well as his important contributions to bilateral relations over the past few years.
Trong added that Vietnam together with China hopes to further promote the two countries' traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the sake of the two peoples and for the peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world.
Bounnhang Vorachit, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and president of Laos, sent warm congratulations and good wishes to Xi and the 19th CPC Central Committee.
Noting that Xi's rich political wisdom and outstanding art of leadership have led China to make remarkable achievements in its development, Bounnhang said Xi's re-election shows the full confidence the CPC and Chinese people have in him.
In the past five years, Bounnhang noted, China has maintained political stability, strengthened national defence, achieved rapid socio-economic development and improved peoples' livelihood.
The Xi-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has gained worldwide support, with regional cooperation mechanisms taking shape and practical cooperation between Laos and China growing ever closer, he added.
Bounnhang said he firmly believes that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, and under the guidance of the 19th CPC National Congress, the brotherly Chinese people will continue to make new and greater achievements, complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, and make greater contributions to regional and world peace, cooperation and development.
The traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries will bear sweeter fruits under the guiding spirit of good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners, added the Lao leader.
Raul Castro, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, congratulated Xi on his re-election and wished him further success during his next term.
Cuba, he said, stands ready to work with China to deepen the brotherly ties between the two peoples, political parties and governments.
Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, said in his congratulatory message that "the Chinese people are on the road of building a socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era under the guidance of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core."
Kim conveyed his wish that, with the 19th CPC National Congress having set various goals across a number of fields, Xi will achieve great success in carrying out important work.
Kim also expressed the conviction that the relations between the countries will develop in the interests of both peoples.
