ASTANA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has approved new rules and conditions for importing e-commerce goods purchased from foreign online marketplaces, which will take effect on July 1, 2026, Kazinform news agency reported on Monday.
Under the new regulations, a duty-free import threshold has been set at 200 euros (about 233.5 U.S. dollars). Goods valued at up to this amount may be imported without customs duties. If the purchase price exceeds 200 euros, a customs duty of 5 percent and value-added tax will be levied on the full value of the goods. The minimum customs duty will be set at 1 euro per kilogram.
The Commission also noted that special customs duty rates will apply to certain categories of goods, including automobiles. At the same time, a list of goods excluded from the simplified declaration procedure for cross-border e-commerce has been approved.
According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, the new measures are aimed at unifying the regulation of cross-border e-commerce within the Eurasian Economic Union. ■
