VIENTIANE, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government has convened a high-level meeting to assess its performance in 2025 and define priority tasks and plans for 2026, with discussions focusing on economic self-reliance, infrastructure development, and other national priorities.
The Lao government's second open meeting for 2025 was held in the capital Vientiane from Monday to Tuesday, bringing together senior leaders and officials from key sectors, Lao national TV reported on Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed government performance over the past term and shaped the 2026 work plan alongside a forward-looking five-year outlook.
Key discussions focused on strengthening a self-reliant economy, improving the implementation of national development plans, modernizing state revenue collection, and addressing findings from audits and inspections.
Major infrastructure development is also a key highlight of the agenda, including priority road construction and upgrade plans for 2026, as well as expressway development projects with practical implementation mechanisms. ■
