CARACAS, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez said Monday that Venezuela has its own acting president and is moving ahead with its international relations, after U.S. President Donald Trump posted an image on social media calling himself "Acting President of Venezuela."
At a school year kick-off event in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira, she rejected any narrative that minimizes the role of Venezuelan authorities in the political leadership of the country.
"Here we have a government that rules Venezuela, here we have an acting president, and here we have a president held hostage in the United States," said Rodriguez, referring to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was seized by U.S. forces along with his wife on Jan. 3.
Venezuela is working to consolidate international relations based on mutual respect and within the framework of international law, she said. ■
